Embracing Our Mission – Embracing Our Future
As a parish in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Our Lady of Mount Carmel is engaging in the work of an Archdiocesan capital campaign. Parishes throughout the Archdiocese are participating in this campaign staggering their start and end dates. Several parishes began their work in this project before us and several will begin after we have. All total this archdiocesan campaign hopes to raise funds to be able to distribute in the following break down:
$50 million toward Catholic Schools
$20 million toward Parishes
$10 million toward the clergy retirement fund and toward vocations
$10 million toward Catholic Charities
$7 million toward the upkeep of the Basilica and the Cathedral
$3 million toward evangelization projects.
(Please Note: Our parish in the past two years has benefited from an infusion of approximately $140,000 from the Archdiocese to accomplish projects and repairs in our own parish.)
It is our parish goal to raise $850,000 during this campaign. If this goal is reached approximately $314,500 (15% of the first $630,000 and the additional $220,000) would remain in our parish to accomplish two very important tasks, namely, to update the antiquated wiring in our church building, and to replace the roof on the high school building.
This campaign involves five important elements:
2. A phased approach: at this point approximately $340,000 has already been raised in a silent phase by our parishioners.
3. Pledged giving: parishioners are being asked to make pledges that can be paid out over a period of three to five years.
4. Proportionate giving: parishioners are being asked to look at their resources and figure out what they can give.
5. Personal visitation: volunteers from the parish are personally reaching out to members of the parish asking for help.
Please consider helping our parish meet her goal in one of two ways. First, consider volunteering to assist with the campaign. If this is something you would like to do please contact the parish office as soon as possible. Second, consider your situation and see what kind of a donation you could possibly make over the next three to five years and make a pledge accordingly.
Stewardship is an important aspect of our lives as Catholic Christians. We need to take care of the Church we have been given and it takes resources of all kinds to do this. Thank you for your continued support of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
